Traveling in golf carts is the favorite and most popular way of transport for golfers nowadays. But many golfers and physicians alike recommend that walking as you are playing a round of golf has many benefits. What are these rewards and will they ever be sufficient to alter the preference for traveling in a cart for most golfers? Let’s research this topic.

You can take advantage of various good golf tips when walking which is the most challenging to do when driving in a golf cart. First, you can look at your lie and the following shot from different angles as you approach your ball. Second you have even more time to study the pros and cons of the different shots that you may attempt from your current position. Lastly, you also have even more time to free your head and focus on the following shot, while blocking out everything else.

From an enjoyment point of view, walking will bring various advantages. It is a lot easier to savor the grandeur of the golf course when you are not hurrying quickly through on a golf cart. Walking also allows you to focus even more on enjoying the round of golf and forgetting the concerns of job, family, school, etc for a time. For some reason, I always seem to enjoy the chatter even more when we are walking instead of riding.

If even more golfers walked, it would also scale down wear and tear on golf courses. Upkeep of the course is a large cost for public and private golf courses. Golf carts are rough on the fairways, especially since large numbers of golfers don’t pay attention to the conditions of the course or to items such as 90 degree rules or holes designated as cart path only.

Several golfers will tell you that they play better golf when they walk. Being loose is so very essential to a good golf swing. These same golfers will tell you that they are able to keep the rythm of their swing smoother and slower, which decidedly helps their shots. Walking also gives you time to forget a blown golf shot before your get to your ball and must get ready for the next shot.

Walking on the golf course can help to keep you physically fit, which is a important item to keep in mind. Walking is one of the most basic kinds of exercise so it makes a lot of sense to walk rather than take a golf cart. One survey showed that playing four hours of golf when walking was the same as a 45-minute physical fitness class. And you can get this physical exercise without straining. If hauling your golf clubs would be too large an effort, you can employ a hand cart to pull your clubs with you.

Golfers are becoming even more cognizant of these advantages every day. But will they be sufficient to significantly change the number of riders versus walkers? It looks unlikely at this point, but all of us can do our part by walking whenever possible and passing the story on the benefits of walking while enjoying a round of golf.
